Unexpectedly Low Electric Bill

Many were astonished when a Tesla owner revealed his annual electricity bill. Given the high price of the vehicle itself, it’s easy to assume that running a Tesla would be expensive. However, the reality turned out to be quite different.

Shockingly Low Annual Cost

On X (formerly Twitter), the man shаrеd his electric bill after driving his Tesla for an entire year. To everyone’s surprise, the total was just $2.37 (£1.89). This figure is far lower than the hundreds of dollars people might expect for regular car charging.

The Real Cost

So, how did the bill come out so low? The key is the Tesla Powerwall, a large battery that integrates with the home’s power system. If you have solar panels, the Powerwall stores excess energy, which is used to charge the Tesla. While the Powerwall itself is costly, starting at around $11,500 (£9,000) and going up to $15,000 (£11,800), it can make the overall cost of charging a Tesla more manageable over time.

Long-Term Perspective

If you plan to keep your Tesla for several years, the initial investment in a Powerwall may be worthwhile. While the upfront cost is significant, it could be cost-effective in the long run.

Community Reactions

In the comments, people joked about the low bill and the cost of the Powerwall. One person suggested setting up a GoFundMe, while another expressed sympathy. Meanwhile, Tesla continued to make headlines with the release of their latest model, the Cybertruck.
